Johnson & Johnson BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages and JWT NY developed BAND-AID® MagicVision™ featuring the Muppets, an augmented reality app that allowed parents and children to enter a magical entertainment world featuring interactive performances by Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Gonzo the Great. Designed to make kids feel better about their ‘boo-boos’, the app also included photo-sharing and Band-Aid ‘movie house’ experiences. It was available for iOS, an AR app designed and developed in-house, 3D and animation with 9K9. Watch the case study.
Users gave it 4.5/5 stars on the iTunes store and it garnered a 12.5% app “like” rating— exceeding the 10% industry benchmark. Users spent 5 minutes playing on average and 30% of users opened the app 7+ times. It was one of the first augmented reality apps to be released on iPhone and iPad. It won a Cannes Gold Lion in that year’s new Mobile category and achieved 115 million+ earned media impressions.
